Installed in 1917 the window is dedicated to 2nd Lt Francis William Alexander Faithfull of the 2nd Seaforth Highlanders, killed in action at Ypres 3rd July 1915. The window depicts three warriors; Joshua, "Art thou for us or for our adversaries?”; an un-named soldier in armour (possibly representing Courage) holding a sword and shield, ”Nay as captain of the Lord’s host am I now come”, and David as a young man holding a sling-shot, ”I am come in the name of the Lord of Hosts”. The texts are from Joshua 5:13-14.Two kneeling angels hold a scroll; "I am quite willing to give my life for my country". Below Joshua the shield of the Seaforth Highlanders, "Cuidich ’n' righ” (Help the King), and below David the family crest - a dog below with the motto, "Fideliter quam fortiter” (Loyalty Rather Than Strength). Francis Faithfull's father was the Rev Robert Colquhoun Faithfull, M.A. incumbent of Peakirk.1 The same cartoon was used for the Northumberland Fusiliers First World War Memorial Window of 1921 in the north aisle of Newcastle Cathedral.
