Stained Glass of Percy Bacon

A small, simple church consisting of Nave, north aisle, chancel, south porch and embattled west tower, all much knocked about over the years. Pevsner says little, neglecting even to mention the thatched chancel with rendered, whitewashed walls1, and its curious "1703" crudely added in bricks to the gable wall. In the south wall of the chancel is a low side window to the west of the priests door2. There is a very fine oak c15 screen heavily restored.

The single Percy Bacon & Bros window in All Saints depicts the Risen Christ flanked by the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Thomas. Above each a quote from scripture:
BVM: "My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour" (Luke 1:47)
Christ: "Come unto me and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:29)
St Thomas: "Blessed are they that have seen and believed" (John 20:29)
In the praedella of the central light angels hold the dedication plate:
"To the glory of God and in memory of Sir Thomas Barrett-Lennard Bt. this window is erected by his wife, Mary Barrett-Lennard".
Sir Thomas was the 3rd Baronet (1853–1923) and a local JP and barrister of the Third Temple. He lived at Horsford Manor opposite the church.
Unfortunately the whole window cannot be seen as a curtain rail has been installed across its base.
